Newton Hydrobond 410 Geodrain External Drainage & Protection Membrane – 25 m²
Newton Hydrobond 410 Geodrain is a two-core externally applied drainage membrane designed to manage water around the outside face of basement and retained walls. It combines a non-woven geotextile filter layer thermally welded to a water-impermeable HDPE studded drainage membrane, providing outstanding drainage and protection against hydrostatic pressure and aggressive ground conditions.
Geodrain acts as a water pressure relief layer in conjunction with primary waterproofing systems — such as sheet or liquid applied tanking membranes — by diverting water away from the structure, resisting chemicals normally found in the ground and supporting stable backfill conditions.
This robust drainage membrane performs exceptionally under settlement, allowing backfilling with excavated soil and providing a slip layer between membrane and backfill to reduce stresses on the waterproofing system.
Key Benefits
Outstanding drainage performance for external basement walls
Reduces hydrostatic water pressure standing against structures
Geotextile filtration prevents soil fines from clogging drainage
Chemical and oxidation resistance withstands aggressive groundwater
High compressive strength supports backfill without protection board
Provides a slip layer to reduce settlement stresses on membranes
Quick and easy installation with compatible ancillaries (tapes, plugs)
Typical Applications
As an external drainage layer when paired with primary waterproofing to BS 8102:2022
Protection and drainage behind retained earth or basement walls
Groundwater relief on sloping sites
Preventing water build-up at retaining structures
Filtering out suspended fines from soil while allowing free flow of water

FAQs
What is HydroBond 410 GeoDrain used for?
It is a drainage membrane designed for externally applied drainage behind basement and retained walls, relieving hydrostatic pressure and filtering soil fines.
Is GeoDrain waterproof?
No — HydroBond 410 is a drainage membrane, not a waterproof barrier. Waterproofing must be provided by a separate primary waterproofing membrane such as HydroBond 403 or a liquid applied system.
What are the key benefits of the geotextile layer?
The geotextile acts as a filter to stop suspended soil particles entering the drainage core while allowing water to flow freely to drainage outlets.
Can GeoDrain withstand backfill without protection board?
Yes — its high compressive strength and slip membrane properties allow backfilling with excavated earth without requiring protection board in many applications.
How does GeoDrain help in a waterproofing system?
It diverts water away from the structure and reduces lateral pressure on the primary waterproofing membrane, improving performance and longevity.
