Newton HydroBond 2K-Flex – Flexible, Two-Component Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane
Newton HydroBond 2K-Flex is a radon-certified, flexible, two-component bitumen/rubber waterproofing coating engineered for the external waterproofing of earth-retaining structures such as basements, foundation walls and below-ground slabs.
Formed from a polymer-modified bitumen emulsion and reactive powder, HydroBond 2K-Flex reacts to create a thick, fully bonded, seamless waterproof barrier. It is designed to fill voids and bridge cracks/joints up to 5 mm, delivering durable protection against water ingress and ground gases.
The coating can be applied by trowel or airless spray, dries quickly to rain-fast condition, and exhibits excellent crack-bridging, flexibility and aggressive ground-water resistance. HydroBond 2K-Flex integrates with other HydroBond waterproofing components (such as HydroBond 403, HydroBond SA and drainage systems) to form a complete Type A external waterproofing system under BS 8102:2022.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is HydroBond 2K-Flex used for?
HydroBond 2K-Flex is a two-component flexible waterproof coating used for external waterproofing of earth-retaining structures such as basements and foundation walls.
How is HydroBond 2K-Flex applied?
It is mixed on site and applied by trowel or airless spray to form a seamless barrier coating.
Does it require primer or mesh?
Yes — for best performance, substrate should be primed with HydroBond 2K-Flex Primer, and HydroBond 2K-Flex Mesh is used to reinforce the first coat when needed.
Can HydroBond 2K-Flex fill voids or cracks?
Yes — when applied at recommended thickness (e.g., two coats to 4 mm), it can fill and bridge voids, surface irregularities and cracks up to 5 mm.
Is it suitable for radon protection?
Yes — HydroBond 2K-Flex is radon gas certified and suitable for gas-resistant Type A waterproofing designs.
